Siya Bengezela eV is a Non Profit Organisation based in Berlin, founded February 2011.

Siya Bengezela initiates creative projects in impoverished township communities around Cape Town to give kids the opportunity to express themselves and reach people who are interested in their stories.

These creative projects serve to empower township kids to create art which can raise essential funds to develop their communities, provide essential health care and further enrich their lives through supplementary education.

Nyanga is a township situated 26 kilometres from Cape Town along N2 highway, close to the Cape Town International Airport.

Unemployment is estimated at around 70%

Roughly 50% of people have completed a high  school education.

HIV/AIDS is a huge community issue.

Its name in Xhosa means ‘moon’ and it is one of the oldest black townships in Cape Town.

Nyanga is one of the poorest and most impoverished communities in South Africa.

We went to Nyanga and found beauty, hope and light.
